Kevin E. Taylor - CV

While primarily a painter, Kevin has also employed film, sound, and sculpture to accompany and animate the stillness of the two-dimensional plane. A member of numerous bands and musical projects, he has been active in audio/video production for much of his life and continues to explore the undercurrents weaving various forms of artistic expression together into larger bodies of thematic work.

Kevin’s work has been exhibited extensively in the US as well as internationally in Japan, Sweden, Germany, UK and featured in numerous publications including Bant (Istanbul), Empty (Australia), Art Papers and Juxtapoz (USA). In January 2010, he was invited by The Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art as part of a visiting artist series, to lecture and conduct studio visits with MFA candidates.  Kevin has curated several exhibitions in the US and Berlin.

Biography

Having grown up within the cultural climate surrounding skateboarding and punk rock of the mid eighties, Kevin E. Taylor developed a dynamic interest in art, music, and the creative process in general.  Following receipt of a B.F.A. from The Savannah College of Art and Design, he returned to his hometown of Charleston, South Carolina where he helped cultivate a fledgling contemporary art and music scene.  In April of 2006, Kevin left his rural 1.5-acre estate for a modest studio apartment in San Francisco where he now works from a Union Square studio.
