As we make progress check out the webpages for each show.

We remarked on how we hadn’t seen her out and about lately and that we really didn’t know what she was up to these days. We heard she had gotten married, but that was about it.

In grad school Ginny had a studio a couple of doors down from David and across from mine. It’s funny how you find that you are attached to people, especially after going through grad school together.

Dear Ginny, we miss you.

I admit it. I’m watching the Oscars, and I have a blog, and I’m about to “blog” about the Oscars... And I don’t usually even know when they are on, but I’m almost moved into a new house and the respite of my couch and TV was too much to pass up.

And why write? Well, here’s why: there were a few wins tonight that really touched my heart. The two winners of best music, the best adapted screenplay winner and the french actress who won are all “artists’ in the sense that I could tell they are true dreamers creating unseen-before gifts for us. They are artists in the sense that they are people striving to fulfill their visions, and in this case, they have received recognition in a very public and massive way.

The delight, tears and surprise of the artists was best spoken by Daniel Day Lewis:
I’m thinking back to the first devilish whisper of an idea that came to him, and everything since, and it seems to me that this sprang like a golden sapling out of the mad beautiful head of Paul Thomas Anderson” .

All the best creations are like that: mad and beautiful. To the artists.
The show is up and looks absolutely gorgeous. I am always amazed and delighted by the complexity and diversity of Paul’s application of paint. This show finds him being even more experimental than his last show and actually allowing for delightful moments of chaos in his paintings.

The painting above is called “Solar Do Nothing Machine”. The painting is based on Charles and Ray Eames design for a machine that “takes nothing but gives everything”. The object on the left side of the painting is a solar panel. The energy generated by the panel drives the kinetic parts of the machine.

Please come and see the show -- it’s worth it!
Best - Eleanor
